First Selectman candidate Tanya Bourgoin welcomes your questions about how she would address the issues facing East Haddam. Read her responses here on Facebook here or you can email your questions to Tanya at FullTimeTanya@gmail.com
Since being elected to the Board of Selectmen in 2023, Tanya has advocated for our citizens voices to be heard and for their perspectives to be respected. While it hasn't always been easy to be the minority member of a three person board, she has been consistent in my efforts to:
* promote policy over party
* push for better communication
* closely monitor proposed municipal expenditures
* gather and share information about public hearings and meetings and encourage civic engagement
* solicit and address resident concerns
* engage with all members of the community cordially and with courtesy
* embrace the diversity of our community
* promote our history, culture and character
She has connected individuals and organizations with needed resources, guidance and assistance; been vocal in my support of the East Haddam Ambulance Association, ensuring that they continue to receive the funding they need and drafted a resolution to create a task force to study ambulance service; opposed cuts to services while also challenging unnecessary spending and has insisted that the public be kept informed and allowed to express their concerns in a open public forum.
Having now served nearly two years on the board, she has a solid understanding of the issues facing East Haddam and changes that need to be addressed. She has ideas that she wants to see implemented which will ensure that we retain our town character while at the same time fostering healthy development. If elected, she will work every day to make East Haddam thrive and prosper now and in the future.
